The first sneaker was made by U.S. Rubber, which produced a canvas shoe with a rubber sole called a "Keds" in 1916. Shortly after, Converse released their rubber-soled shoe, the "Converse All-Star," in 1917. So, Keds holds the title for creating the first sneaker.
