I always thought the champion-2k had a flared outer sole around the heel area.Kind of like the white ones in these pictures:

I might be wrong but I thought that all of the champs with the "keds original" labels inside were designated as champ 2K's. There were flared and non-flared heel versions.

Here's a couple pics of the different versions that I have:

keds comfort arch 1991
keds original flared heel
keds original regular heel
keds since 1916
keds since 1916 slip-on champ

On the 2k with the non flared heel the blue label is significantly smaller and the bottoms are smoothed.

Having these all lined up together, I still can't get over how "coke bottle" shaped the sole of the flared heel champs are. The whole heel area is larger and sticks out more to the sides too.

They are comfortable though. Wore them all day again today.

I'm actually more confused now, then before I started the thread!
Would the glared heals not have some kind of special name to seperate them from the normal heels?
I might email the company and see what they say in a few weeks.

The flared heal was the 2k version. Once they dropped the flare that term was dropped by Keds. Sadly many online vendors have not updated the product listing.
