Adult rated Keds keds&co

Does any one have information on this line of Keds. I picked this pair up at a second hand store for $1.99 and they look in unused shape. Did keds make this?

I seem to recall reading that at one time keds came out with this line as a cheapy line to compete with Kmart and other low end stores. The outcome was not good.

I was living in Dallas TX when this marketing deal took place. In the mid boom it started in late 85 and lasted untill late 86. The champ version sold for 9.95 and was in about every store around. They did pretty well for a while and were quite confy and durable. Much better than the dollar store knock-offs.One of the only versions I don't have in my vintage collections.

YUP those were made by Keds. Early in my shoe fetish years I had a pair of those exact Keds in white canvas. They are just like shoes that LA Gear made called "Workout"
