Converse LACES OUT - new trend?

Is it me or has anyone else noticed in girls in the UK and a new trend which is catching?

They are wearing trainers and sneakers but only with laces through the bottom 2-3 rows of eyelets, chucks as well.
I saw 2x girls, one in Addidas Stan Smiths last night and Superstars on the bus tonight all following the same trend.

I witnessed several girls in Crawley Town Centre this afternoon wearing black and brown chucks following similar fashion.... Or is it just me?

I hope that this trend gets big too. Right now in the States, I still notice people wearing them like normal. But who knows, maybe it will make its way across the pond.
