This sole is also now on the Keds Champion on Amazon, in higher res. It's definitely a lot more "textured" than the new sole, a bit closer to the original bubble sole. From what I can tell, the lighter areas are sprayed on, and might wear off after the first few times they are worn. It's not a separate piece like it was in the last series.

Spirko, I love that style!
And to add to what was said, yes the new soles seem to be a lot more like the champ 2k soles in look and texture, with just the thinnest coating of "fuzz". It does seem as though it wears off faster (kinda like mold release for tires, lol!) and they do seem to provide much better grip than the previous soles, wet or dry. Wore my newest navy champs in NYC all weekend and they were great!
