Primark in the UK this season are doing canvas high tops (black/white, red/white and white/red) not bad ...!!.... for £4.99 GBP per pair
They are also doing a similar range in vinyl high tops with velcro and a number of styles of cheap canvas plimsolls, with and without laces.
Just bought two pairs of high tops tonight from Primark in Wembley.
They are just like chucks but without the heel patch or sole rear facing logo.
I have seen a few girls in Derby and London wearing these and they actually look quite good with girls in jeans.
