Thinking back to the 1980's and 1990's, most girls I knew typically only had one or two pairs of sneakers. Regardless of brand, that's what I observed.
Sometimes it was one "athletic" pair like Nikes or Reeboks and one "fashion" pair like Keds or Tretorns. There were some that had two pairs of the same kind with one being an old pair and a newer pair for nicer outfits. At the time, Tretorns could pass as either fashion or athletic as girls wore them for both tennis and with cute clothes.
Today, it seems like most women have far more pairs of sneakers- maybe 5 or 6 pair (or more). Again, a combination of running shoes and fashion-type sneakers.
Is that what you've seen as well? Why do you think that is?
